so, almost all of me has forgotten. there's only a really small part of me, like the size of my babytoe, that is still hoping. hoping to be proved wrong and be surprised. hoping to prove others wrong and put to shame their doubts and low expectations. four more weeks left. after four weeks, i'm pretty sure that chapter of my life will be finished, never to be revisited. it was all fun while it lasted.

i can't wait for the school year to end. i will not miss telling my students to stop talking so loudly. i will not miss telling them to take their fingers out of their mouths, noses, armpits, and pants. i will not miss seeing them eat like animals. i will not miss that they don't shower or change their underwear frequently. i will not miss their smart comments and teenage attitudes. but, i know that once school is over, i'll miss them too. i'll miss laughing with them and at them. i'll miss talking to them and remembering that yes, they are teenagers. i'll miss helping them with their work and teaching them about neurological disorders and world war II. i'll miss telling them how much i can't stand ben affleck. i'll miss denying to them that i listen to rap music. most of all, i will miss their smiles and what great kids they are deep, deep, deep down-inside. so, summer needs to hurry up and come, 'cause i need to miss these kids. after all, distance does make the heart grow fonder. or at least, it helps to forget all the things i won't miss.

so, what happened to debbie in new orleans where the uv index was at maximum? nothing.

okay, so this may have been a good thing, but come on. one would think being in a city where the sun is scorching hot, i would come back with some color. no such luck. well, i take that back. my eyelids are kind of itchy.

new orleans is an interesting city. you can get away with calling everyone "baby" or "sweetheart" or "sweetie" without being shady or creepy. alcohol is served and bought all day, anyday, anywhere, and everywhere. you can stay in a hotel where dogs and cats are served primecuts of grade a meat. beignets are not just your regular fried dough. the mississippi is just a large, dirty river. bourbon street is made up of a combination of interesting and foul odors and liquids. it was all definitely fun while it lasted. i am going to miss Mac gurgling at night. (Mac is the goldfish our hotel gave us. who did you think he was? you duh-tee person, you.)

words are just what they are. words. you'd think i'd be really tired and done with it all by now. it's the same old song and dance. i don't know why i thought it'd be any different this time around. i guess i'm not that surprised though. but, i'd be lying if i said i wasn't disappointed.

i don't care who you are and what how annoying, loud, obnoxious, and crude your students are. you cannot tell me that your heart doesn't break when they are overcome with such rage and anger that they swear, shove, and spit at their own teachers. and as a result, they are taken away by police in handcuffs, sobbing. this week, i don't have anyone to talk to about how the cubs and kyle farnsworth are doing.

so, dawson's creek is finally over. even though i haven't watched the show in like two years, watching this last episode brought back a lot of memories - putting aside homework, ignoring all phonecalls, and shutting my door every wednesday night to watch. wondering who joey was going to pick this week, dawson or pacey. questioning if jack was truly gay or if he just wanted to be different. wondering why dawson never has a decent haircut. trying to figure out what was so good-looking about pacey. - well, joey has finally chosen pacey. jack is still gay. jen had a baby and sadly passed on. and dawson moved to l.a. to direct or whatever. time has just flown by, hasn't it? my, how you've all grown.

so, i've been still fighting it. "do i do it? or do i not?" "should i? or shouldn't i?" lately, just when i'm about to, i lay down on my bed to rethink it and i fall asleep. and the phonecall never gets made. oops.

washing your car while it's raining, IN the rain, seems like a good idea... on paper. but, does it work? take a look at mina's car and you tell me. if anything, it's a good laugh.

and just as i thought coffee-making guys were bad, along comes the music guys at borders. the other day, i'm at one of those listening stations listening to a cd (duh). and i don't know about you, but i like to look at the cover of the cd i'm listening to when i'm not familiar with it. and being as efficient as i am, i put the cd on top of some other cds of the display. as i'm listening to the cd and READING the cover, the music guy comes along to switch some stickers for another cd. noticing the untidy display, he straightens the other cds while huffing and puffing about it. in his flustered state, he instead causes the cds to fall out. being the kind and helpful person i am, i try to help by picking up some cds. but, in a pissy voice, he says, "i got it!" calm down guy, i'm just trying to help you out. then, he angrily takes the cd i'm looking at and puts it back. what is going on here? was i not looking at that cd? after he put the cd back, i took it again. where do these people come from?
